The Cellule Mobilité of AKT for Wallonia helps employers based in Wallonia manage their staff's mobility, free of charge thanks to funding from the Walloon Region. It runs mobility assessments, bike audits, the Tous vélo-actifs programme, Mobility Manager training and support for business parks.
About Cellule Mobilité d'AKT
The Cellule Mobilité is one of the advisory units of AKT for Wallonia, the main employers' organisation in Wallonia, born from the merger of the Union Wallonne des Entreprises (UWE) and the five Walloon Chambers of Commerce and Industry. With its member federations, AKT represents 80,000 companies. The unit was created in 2002 in partnership with the Walloon Government and, because it is funded by the Region, offers its services free of charge to employers with a site in Wallonia, whether or not they are AKT members. Its motto is: facilitate, advise, inform. It helps employers of every size and business parks with a helpdesk, Mobility Assessments, bike audits and collective mobility management for business parks. It runs the Tous vélo-actifs operation on the ground for the Service public de Wallonie, trains Mobility Managers and runs their network. It also publishes practical tools, organises webinars and conferences, and shares the practices of Walloon companies through its success stories. The team works from Namur.

A shared mobility plan for 2,400 workers on one business park
The Leuze Europe business park in Leuze-en-Hainaut covers 120 hectares and keeps growing. Its roads suit trucks better than workers, some of whom work in shifts or have little access to a car. A mobility working group brought together the City of Leuze-en-Hainaut, the inter-municipal agency IDETA, the mobility units of the UWE (now AKT), the CSC and FGTB unions, Entreprendre.Wapi and the local business association ADEL. Together they looked for alternatives to the solo car that fit workers' realities, and wrote a Worker's Mobility Guide that sets out the bus, train, cycling, walking and alternative-fuel options for reaching the park, with their financial advantages.

John Cockerill, an industrial group based in Seraing with 700 employees in Belgium, wanted to move from 'everything by car' to multimodal commuting. Its policy, presented in a success story video by the Cellule Mobilité, combines a cafeteria plan that lets staff choose benefits, cycling infrastructure on site, the bike allowance and bike ambassadors among employees.

180 hospital staff test an e-bike before their move
Groupe santé CHC brought three Liège clinics together in a new hospital, MontLégia, built on a former coal mine site along the A602. Its Mobility Manager prepared staff for their new commute and all the alternatives: public transport, cycling, carpooling, shared cars and scooters. Because the RAVeL cycle route runs along the site, the hospital launched a cycling programme as soon as staff arrived. With Pro Velo and support from Wallonia, 180 people could test an electric bike for free for several weeks or months on their real commute.
