It is both a design office for employer mobility plans and the publisher of two software tools: Karto.tech, which models current commutes and the realistic modal shift, and Kelsite, which manages geographic internal mobility and helps multi-site employers assign staff closer to home. Three years of follow-up and 32 fewer cars at head office every day
Les Résidences has more than 600 employees spread over about a hundred sites. 1km à Pied produced its employer mobility plan and updated it every year for three consecutive years, so the effect of each action could be measured. The diagnosis showed strong potential to reassign staff closer to home and to build a local employer brand. Les Résidences then held an open day to recruit local candidates for its new head office in Mantes-la-Jolie and ran a carpooling policy, with a sign-up stand for employees.
A national mobility plan for 2,300 public agents on 34 sites
Cerema, the French public centre for expertise on risks, mobility and planning, set a carbon transition plan for 2023-2025 and asked 1km à Pied, through a public tender, to help it cut mobility-related CO₂ emissions by 11%. The team analysed the commutes of all 2,300 agents and their business trips across more than 30 sites in every region of France, including 3 overseas. It compared the staff survey with its own data analysis, trained a network of mobility referents through 5 webinars, produced per-site fact sheets with the potential modal shift, communication kits on 8 themes and a catalogue of action sheets. It singled out 5 priority sites and supported the launch of carpooling, with a carpooling day on each site.
CS Group designs and runs critical systems for space, aeronautics and energy. 1km à Pied analysed the commutes of its 1,500 employees across 8 sites and drew up a multi-site employer mobility plan, including an analysis of reassignments closer to home. The diagnosis led to an action plan focused on carpooling and on promoting a local employer brand. CS Group received access to the 1km à Pied platform, with maps per site, the potential modal shift, the expected savings and the sizing of the sustainable mobility allowance.
Mobility plans for 29 sites and very different trades
Idex, a French energy transition company, asked 1km à Pied to draw up the employer mobility plan for 29 sites and more than 1,500 employees, organised in regional divisions, agencies and sectors. To reach each trade and its constraints, the team ran 4 targeted surveys, supported staff in signing up to carpooling and helped find coworking spaces. Over 18 months the support covered cycling, carpooling and local recruitment.
