About BattMobility
BattMobility NV is based in Ghent and runs a 100% electric car-sharing network, mainly in Ghent, Leuven and Bruges. Since 2017 it has added more than 200 cars to its network. Private users drive with the BattFUN, BattFAN or BattMAX formulas, where BattMAX is an all-in electric lease whose car is shared when its owner does not need it, the income being deducted from the monthly bill. For organisations, BattPool supplies and manages electric pool cars, BattForBusiness opens the fleet to a whole team through one company account, and BattMobility also leases electric cars to companies and self-employed people. Its software runs bookings, digital access, damage checks, charging monitoring and usage reporting. Insurance, maintenance and tyres are included, and BattMobility fits within pillar 2 of the Belgian mobility budget. Partners shown on its site include the cities of Ghent, Leuven, Bruges and Oudenaarde, Ethias and leasing companies such as Leasys and Directlease. References include the theatre NTGent, the software company Factry and the employers' organisation VOKA Oost-Vlaanderen.
What BattMobility has delivered
VOKA Oost-VlaanderenEmployers' organisation
Two electric pool cars, 43% lower costs and no more key exchanges
VOKA Oost-Vlaanderen (48.7 FTE, central Ghent) managed its cars through a shared calendar: staff had to pick up the key at reception, bookings overlapped, damage and fines were tracked by hand, a parking space had to be rented, and peaks were covered by car-sharing services with fossil-fuel cars. BattMobility placed two electric pool cars, a Volvo EX30 and a Peugeot e-Rifter. Staff book them in the app during the day; in the evening, at weekends and during holidays, neighbours can drive them and staff can book them privately at a staff rate. The external income is deducted from the lease, and because of the intensive shared use the City of Ghent provides a free reserved charging point and parking space.
An electric 7-seater in place of a petrol car that sat idle
NTGent, the city theatre of Ghent (64.80 FTE), had one petrol car that stood still after working hours and was not comfortable enough to carry people, so it was only used for logistics. As a public institution evaluated by the Flemish government on good governance, it wanted a car that fits its work. BattMobility supplied a Peugeot E-Rifter, a 7-seater that carries people or, with the seats folded, equipment, plus access to the BattMobility fleet nearby through one app and one invoice. The car now also takes cast and crew on tour, where a Cambio or taxi used to be booked. Private trips by staff after hours are billed directly to the employee.
One pool car that pays back a quarter of its lease
Factry, a 15-person software company in central Ghent, has a young team that mostly lives in the city without a car, but needs to reach clients, production sites and trade fairs such as Hannover. A classic lease for everyone did not fit. BattMobility placed one electric pool car and took over the full management of five classic lease cars. Staff book the pool car in the app for business trips and, at a staff rate, for the occasional weekend away. Neighbours drive it outside working hours, and that income is deducted from the lease.
