Mbrella is a Brussels company founded in 2021 that builds software to manage corporate mobility in Belgium. Its mission is to let HR set up flexible mobility plans very simply, for large companies and SMEs alike. The platform covers the mobility budget, commuting allowances, public transport subscriptions, the Mbrella Pay mobility card, EV charging with Mbrella Charge, a mobile app and Mbrella Analytics for CO2 and commuting data. It connects to social secretariats and mobility partners through more than 60 integrations. Mbrella reports more than 45,000 active users and more than 1,500 client companies, including IKEA, ING, Danone, D'Ieteren, RTBF, VRT and Deliverect. It can also support the policy work, as with Prothya Biosolutions, where it defined the mobility policy and computed TCO per employee segment before configuring the platform. Mbrella has been ISO 27001 certified since 2024, was named HR tech start-up of the year in 2022 and raised €6 million from D'Ieteren in 2023.

From cafeteria plan to mobility budget in four months
Prothya, a plasma fractionation company with more than 250 employees, wanted more flexibility for staff, a real alternative to the company car and a smaller mobility footprint. It looked for a digital, automated partner with strong reporting. Work started in February 2025; in March Mbrella ran a consulting phase to define the mobility policy, compute TCO per employee segment and validate scenarios with management. The platform was configured in May and went live in early June 2025. Employees now choose their own mix: one uses his whole budget for his mortgage, another picked a simpler electric car to free budget for a lease bike.

Cycling allowances and transport passes in RTBF's carbon plan
As part of its Impact On carbon reduction programme, the Belgian public broadcaster RTBF tracks CO2 indicators and pushes soft mobility to cut car kilometres. It uses Mbrella to calculate and pay cycling mileage allowances and to manage public transport subscriptions, with more policy features to follow. Many employees cycle to work, and the route planner replaced the Excel file they used before: they enter their home-to-work route once and recurring trips are automated.
Danone wanted commuting to be easy for a diverse workforce, whether by bike, on foot, by car or by public transport. Mbrella is integrated into its daily operations and connected to existing systems such as ProTime for leave registration. Employees log their trips, see bike allowances calculated automatically, manage their mobility budget and get mobility expenses reimbursed in one place, including staff who chose no company car and split their time between Ghent, Brussels and Paris.
