Zero Waste Consult is a Belgian consultancy that starts from an organisation's waste to find the losses behind it: wasted raw materials, staff time, logistics and floor space. For more than 12 years it has helped large groups and public bodies cut waste at source, lower their costs and stay compliant.
About Zero Waste Consult
Zero Waste Consult was founded by Sébastien Finet, who has more than 12 years of experience in waste management and the circular economy in industry, food, pharma, healthcare, offices, defence, public institutions, retail and logistics. Based in Waterloo, the firm works with medium and large organisations, from multi-site groups to hospitals, universities and public services, and its references include Solvay, Safran, Sodexo, Ferrero, Carrefour, Engie, John Cockerill and Elia. Its method follows five steps: an initial assessment of waste and material flows, removal of wasteful items and non-compliance, implementation of viable alternatives, training of the teams, then indicators for monitoring and continuous improvement. Training is a large part of the work: Sébastien Finet is a guest lecturer at ULB, HELB, HEPL, HELHA, HEPN and FOREM, has trained more than 40 circular economy facilitators over the past five years and trains more than 30 facility managers each year. Organisations that want a first view can take DIAG ZWC, a 24-question online self-assessment that gives a score per axis and three priority actions.

What Zero Waste Consult has delivered
Office site (client not named)Services
Lower collection costs and better sorting on a complex office site
A complex office site suffered from poor sorting, costly logistics and collection contracts that no longer fitted its needs. Zero Waste Consult restructured the waste flows and eased the workload of the site teams, which brought collection costs down by more than 20%.
High-tech industrial site (client not named)Advanced manufacturing
Simpler logistics and fewer sorting errors on a high-tech industrial site
A highly technical industrial site had widespread sorting errors and scattered waste logistics, which created unnecessary costs. Zero Waste Consult simplified the flows, reduced the share of waste sent to incineration and strengthened the site's regulatory compliance.
Harmonised sorting of hazardous medical waste across several hospitals
Several hospital sites classified too much waste as infectious, which led to significant extra costs and a risk for staff. Zero Waste Consult harmonised practices between the sites, made sorting safer and reduced the volumes of B2 (hazardous medical) waste.
Company restaurant (client not named)Contract catering
Reliable sorting and regional compliance in a company kitchen
A company restaurant had a high rate of sorting errors, especially on PMD packaging and organic waste, which threatened its compliance with regional rules. Zero Waste Consult redesigned the sorting equipment, trained the teams and secured day-to-day practices without disrupting service.
Multi-activity site (client not named)Multi-activity site
Getting a mixed-use site ready for new waste rules
A site combining medical, sports, logistics and residential activities was not ready for new regulatory obligations. Zero Waste Consult structured sorting, secured the waste flows and built a method that can be repeated on the organisation's other sites.
University medical institution (client not named)Academic & medical
Safer handling of hazardous waste in a university medical institution
A university institution with a scientific and medical focus had frequent sorting errors and poor management of hazardous waste. Zero Waste Consult strengthened safety, structured the waste flows and brought practices back into line with regulations.
“Lors de sa venue chez John Cockerill, Sébastien nous a beaucoup impressionné par son expérience et sa connaissance du sujet. Il a mené à des réflexions particulièrement intéressantes et porteuses de sens. Gérer efficacement ses déchets est un bon moyen d’améliorer son empreinte environnementale tout en réduisant ses dépenses : un incontournable !”
