About RaYSun
RaYSun is a Belgian company that is both a design office and an energy community manager: it designs communities upstream, then runs them day to day. As a design office, it sizes energy communities for public and private clients with a simulator it built itself, from feasibility studies to answers to public tenders for municipalities and intermunicipal companies. As a community manager, it obtains the authorisations, sets up the legal and contractual framework, bills the energy exchanged, onboards new members, adjusts allocation keys and deals with grid operators, regulators and suppliers. It runs the Energilia sharing operations in Brussels and Wallonia and manages operations within the WalloWatt community, including an offer for Walloon industrial sites compatible with their carbon agreements, built on the CE4I project of the Walloon administration. RaYSun reports 334 supply points sharing energy across 102 municipalities in all three regions, and more than 25 communities active or in preparation. Members include Heidelberg Materials, Facq, Thon Hotels, Dott and Amnesty International. RaYSun has its head office in Brussels and an operational office in Ciney, and its projects have been covered by RTBF, Forbes Belgium, Sudinfo and L'Avenir.

Sharing a brewery's solar surplus between its sites and its employees
The family brewery in Purnode was exporting the surplus of its rooftop solar panels to the grid at a floor price. RaYSun set up a multi-site sharing operation inside the WalloWatt community, first between the brewery's own buildings, then with some employees at home. Sharing started at the end of May 2025, and RaYSun describes it as the first operation of its kind in Wallonia. Figures measured on the real meters over 12 months:
Letting Brussels businesses join an energy sharing operation in days
Energilia Brussels lets hotels, shops, distributors, associations and local producers share their electricity across the Brussels region without creating their own structure: members join an existing operation and RaYSun handles allocation, billing, arrivals and departures. In Brussels, shared energy is exempt from the renewable energy levy. Launched at the end of 2024 with a few pioneers, the operation now has 54 members.
