Octave.energy is a Belgian maker of battery storage systems for businesses and farms, run by its own energy management system (EMS). The batteries store on-site solar power, cut consumption peaks and earn revenue on energy markets.
About Octave
Octave.energy was founded in Belgium in 2020 and started by developing and producing its own circular battery storage system, built from second-life batteries, with integrated control and monitoring. It now delivers first-life LFP systems alongside second-life ones, all run by its in-house EMS and the Octave Portal dashboard, and its proprietary Battery Cloud analyses fleet data to extend battery lifetime. Headquartered in Mechelen, with an office at Greenbizz in Brussels, the team brings together engineers, data scientists and former energy traders, and works with installation partners such as Eco Technics, Argona and Extravolt. Octave has delivered more than 200 MWh of storage to over 400 businesses, from farms and SMEs to Colruyt Group, McDonald's, Eneco, Naturgy and Nextensa. It has been profitable for three consecutive years, generated €16 million in revenue in 2025, and raised €10 million in Series A funding in 2026, led by SPDG Growth with imec.istart, BNP Paribas Fortis and KBC, to expand in the Netherlands, France and Germany. Its first projects already run in Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Spain.

What Octave has delivered
Flanders ExpoEvents venue
Handling event-day peaks with a 5 MWh battery
Flanders Expo in Ghent runs more than 40,000 m² of solar panels and 100 charging points, but its demand peaks sharply during major events, when halls, technical installations, catering, lighting and audiovisual equipment all draw power at once. The venue installed Octave's 5 MWh Battery Container, which stores locally generated energy, manages power peaks on busy event days and makes better use of the available grid capacity. On days without events, the EMS deploys the battery flexibly based on generation, consumption and grid conditions. Installation by ExtraPower / Extravolt, energy supplier BEE (Belgian Eco Energy).
In October 2025, Eneco and football club OH Leuven unveiled a stadium that combines more than 1,000 solar panels with 6 air-cooled Octave One cabinets. The batteries store excess solar energy during the day and release it when demand is high, so the club reduces peak loads, depends less on the grid and uses its own renewable energy instead of importing electricity when prices are high. Eneco acted as energy partner, Octave as battery technology provider, and Extravolt / Extrapower handled the installation.
Storing solar power for a climate-neutral chocolate factory
Family chocolatier Limar, in Turnhout since 1983, aims to make its new factory Belgium's first 100% climate-neutral chocolate plant. It already recovers heat from chocolate cooling and its compressors, and generates part of its own power with 938 kWp of solar panels. To use more of that power on site, Limar installed eight Octave One Air battery systems, with installation and project management by Argona. The Octave EMS runs the batteries fully automatically, based on Limar's energy contract, grid costs, forecast solar production and local consumption.
The Pelkmans-Vervoort family runs a poultry farm with 195,000 chicks in Turnhout, with 230 kWp of solar panels installed in 2022 and 168 kWp more in 2023. An Octave battery system installed by Eco Technics, steered by Yuso on the imbalance market, now maximises self-consumption and sells surplus energy during imbalance peaks. Octave's solar curtailment control scales production down to the farm's needs when prices are negative, so the farm no longer pays to inject. Smart solar curtailment on the imbalance market, added in March 2025, is expected to bring around €5,000 in additional revenue per year (estimate published by Octave).
Turning battery flexibility into revenue on three farm sites
Hans Gheldof and Leen Vanoverbeke run a mixed farm in Gijverinkhove, West Flanders, with pigs, potatoes and the quinoa sold under Gelvanco in Belgian supermarkets. Early adopters of solar panels more than 15 years ago, they added Octave battery systems spread across three locations within a one-kilometre radius. Team Green handled the installation and project management, and the batteries are steered with Yuso to optimise performance on the imbalance market.
Cutting solar injection from about half to about a tenth
Agricultural company Thovarco has 145 kWp of solar panels, but used to inject about 50% of the solar energy it produced into the grid. With two Octave outdoor battery cabinets installed by Eco Technics and steered for self-consumption and imbalance arbitrage via Yuso, grid injection fell to approximately 10%.
“As early adopters of this control system, we were impressed by its precision. Whenever we have questions, the Octave team is always ready to provide detailed explanations. We are thoroughly positive about our Octave battery system and the support we've received from both Octave and Eco Technics.”
