Shurgard, Europe's largest self-storage operator, had no live data to catch after-hours waste or to support its ESG and CSRD reporting with traceable figures. It rolled out nanoGrid's own hardware across its European portfolio, each setup tailored after an on-site survey. At one site, live data showed night-time electricity demand 60% above target and indoor temperatures held at 26 °C with the heat pumps off: faulty motion sensors left the lights on, and the lights were acting as heaters. Once the logic was corrected, electricity use dropped by 60% and the temperature returned to 21 °C. At another site, a ventilation fan running 24/7 was limited to business hours, cutting site-wide consumption by another 15%. The rollout grew from three sites to more than 340, with no rewiring and no downtime.

In late 2017, Belfius's facility managers only saw consumption weeks later, on the invoice, while boilers ran on old timer schedules. nanoGrid started with a pilot in a typical mid-sized office in Boom (Antwerp). It added submetering for electricity, gas and water, linked boiler setpoints to local weather forecasts, tracked supply and return water temperatures and learned the building's warm-up profile. Heating throttled back outside opening hours, yet the lobby still reached its target temperature before the doors opened. In one heating season, the branch cut its gas use by 28% and roughly halved its after-hours 'silent' demand, with no comfort complaints. Belfius then extended nanoGrid to more offices, and live data now feeds its ESG reporting without manual consolidation.

By 2017, rising gas prices weighed on Krëfel's 75 Belgian electronics stores, but any cut in shopper comfort was ruled out and store managers only saw monthly bills. In the Aalst flagship store, nanoGrid installed submeters on fifteen key electrical circuits, the main gas and water meters, five ambient temperature points and seven other parameters such as façade lighting and demo zones. With that baseline, the platform switched HVAC start-up to 'just in time', turned the aisle lights on only when staff arrived and timed the heating to reach the target temperature exactly at opening. In one heating season, gas use for space heating fell by 19% and the load after closing dropped to about 2 kWh, roughly half of what it was, as the first three utility bills confirmed.

WDP manages more than 300 logistics buildings in six countries. Energy reports arrived from each country in different formats, languages and levels of completeness, so the sustainability team spent its time deciphering spreadsheets and every ESG deadline meant catching up. nanoGrid set up real-time tracking of electricity, water, gas and air quality across all sites, dashboards for both ESG tracking and on-site performance, automatic alerts on anomalies, leaks and off-hours overuse, and API connections that feed WDP's internal systems. Certified technicians installed each site and documented it in Post Intervention Files used for BREEAM, GRESB and CRREM scoring, and nanoGrid maintains the dataloggers and meters over time.
