Groupe One is a Brussels support organisation for sustainable entrepreneurship. Its coaches help small businesses make their model more sustainable and resilient, and it runs circular economy, sustainable food and urban logistics projects with public and private partners.
About Groupe One
Groupe One was founded in 1997 by Marc Lemaire and Laurence Hennuy to bring meaning to the economy, and its mission is to encourage entrepreneurship as a driver of change towards a sustainable economy. Its vision is a Belgian economy that has completed its ecological transition by 2050 and respects planetary boundaries. Over the years it opened the Guichet d'Économie Locale in Saint-Gilles (2002), the eco-managed Village Partenaire business centre (2007), the Village Finance development fund (2009) and the CREO support office in Wallonia (2011), and created the EcoRes consultancy for companies, territories and public authorities. Its team of coaches, facilitators and intrapreneurs works on three themes: sustainable food systems, circular economy and recovery chains, and the relocation of the economy. Groupe One inspires through workshops for young people and networking events, supports entrepreneurs from creation to growth, and runs innovation projects with local actors such as the Ville de Bruxelles, Bruxelles Mobilité and urbike. It is active in Brussels from the Village Partenaire in Saint-Gilles and in Wallonia, including at the Agricoeur site in Les Bons Villers.
What Groupe One has delivered

Recovering more of the City of Brussels' waste
The City of Brussels wanted to recover as much as possible of the waste produced or collected by its services, send less to the sorting centre and lower the treatment bill. It mandated Groupe One and EcoRes for a seven-part mission: a technical diagnostic of the waste flows, a recovery plan matched with Brussels reuse actors, project scenarios with technical and economic feasibility studies, a short and medium-term action plan, a legal review of the sorting centre tender, a benchmark of inspiring projects elsewhere, and support for the cleanliness department's new Resources Hub. Groupe One coordinated the mission and the consortium with EcoRes, Vescobel and Equal.

Shifting Urban Logistics: helping Brussels companies green their deliveries
In Brussels, goods transport accounts for only 17% of kilometres travelled but 29% of transport-related greenhouse gas emissions, and many SMEs have neither the resources nor the benchmarks to tackle logistics. Shifting Urban Logistics, run by Bruxelles Mobilité with urbike and Groupe One, helps self-employed people, SMEs and large companies rethink their flows of goods, waste and service calls, with a shift to cargo bikes and electric vehicles. Groupe One develops the awareness and co-design tools (a logistics Business Model Canvas, Circular Canvas workshops) and the Create support for companies being set up. The project runs from 2024 to 2028, co-funded by the ERDF and the Brussels-Capital Region.

Affordable shared cargo-bike deliveries for small Brussels shops
Small shops, craftspeople and local producers in Brussels wanted to offer green deliveries without the cost of their own logistics. Building on its MyMarket.brussels shared online sales platform, launched during the Covid crisis, Groupe One incubated Bike Delivery, a shared cargo-bike parcel service, and developed it with urbike between 2021 and 2023. Pooling demand across many small users brings prices down to a reasonable level for each one. After a tender, the service was handed over to Vélo Cargo in 2024, which continues to run it.
