Go Forest

Carbon RemovalAdvisory & Training

Go Forest is a Ghent social enterprise that plants and restores forests with companies, in Belgium, across Europe and in the Global South. It picks the right species for each ecosystem, works with local partners and lets you follow every tree on an impact dashboard, with certified carbon credits for offsetting claims.

About Go Forest

Go Forest was founded in 2020 by Sarah Parent, its Chief Ecological Officer, and is based in Ghent. It is a social enterprise: success is measured first in trees planted, local income created and biodiversity restored. It works with established field partners with more than 15 years of reforestation experience, such as Sylva Nova in Europe, Faja Lobi in the D.R. Congo, Bôndy in Madagascar and Camino Verde in Peru. By 30 September 2026 it had planted 764,240+ trees across 17+ project locations, trees that will capture 133,742+ tonnes of carbon over their lifetime, and more than 700 companies had joined as members. Next to tree planting and carbon credits, Go Forest offers tree gifts, company forests on business sites, field visits and team days, keynotes and awareness sessions, biodiversity measurement and drone imagery, as well as a Nature Proof Program with its partner Naturise that assesses a company's impacts and dependencies on nature. Members include AstraZeneca, BCG, ING, ABN AMRO, Ageas and Elia Group. Its sister company Go Ocean restores marine and coastal ecosystems.

What Go Forest has delivered

B.I.G. YarnsTextile

Forest projects on three continents for a yarn manufacturer

B.I.G. Yarns, part of Beaulieu International Group, aims for a zero environmental footprint by 2030 and has its progress validated through SBTi and an EcoVadis Gold rating. Next to eco-designed yarns and LCA-based production, it works with Go Forest to plant trees in several regions, for ecological benefits and better livelihoods for local communities. It follows the results on its own impact dashboard and also offers trees as gifts.

Energie.beEnergy supply

Customers link their gas emissions to tree planting

Belgian energy supplier Energie.be sells renewable electricity, but many of its customers cannot yet move away from natural gas, which accounts for about 75% of CO₂ emissions from energy use. With Go Forest, each customer can link their own gas emissions to tree planting: together they converted these emissions into the CO₂ that trees absorb over a 20-year lifetime and picked both local and global projects after a market study among consumers. Progress is visible at any time on a dedicated Go Forest impact dashboard, while Energie.be keeps stressing that reducing gas use comes first.

  • Gas emissions converted into tree uptake over 20 years
  • Local and global projects chosen with consumer input
  • A public impact dashboard for customers

ZEBFashion retail

Customers add a mangrove tree at the checkout

Belgian multi-brand fashion retailer ZEB lets customers add a contribution to their receipt in all its stores and webshop. Go Forest uses it to plant mangroves in Majunga, Madagascar, where the restored coastal forest protects the shore and the work gives a village of climate migrants a steadier income. Anyone can follow the ZEB mangrove forest online.

Recor BeddingBedding manufacturing

One tree planted for every mattress sold

Belgian sleep specialist Recor, which hand-makes its mattresses in Genk, planted 200 trees in Gomery (Virton) when it launched its AURA mattress, and now plants one more tree in its Recor Bedding forest there for every mattress sold. The plot used to be a spruce monoculture prone to bark beetle damage; the project replaces it with two species of oak.
