Carbonmark is a global marketplace and API for verified carbon credits. Once a company has cut the emissions it can, Carbonmark lets it fund climate projects for what remains, with live prices, purchases from 1 kg of CO₂e and a public, verifiable certificate for every retirement.
About Carbonmark
Carbonmark was established in 2023 as a spin-out of Klima, one of the early projects to apply blockchain to carbon markets, launched in 2021. It is led by Managing Director and co-founder Andrew Bonneau, with co-founder Alex Taylor; both previously co-founded Offsetra and KlimaDAO. The core team has built tools for environmental markets since 2020 and brings over 50 years of combined experience in carbon project development, environmental asset trading, financial technology and emissions software. Carbonmark reports more than 1,200,000 tCO₂ retired on behalf of its clients and over 150 supported carbon projects. Its marketplace lists credits from registries such as Puro.earth, EcoRegistry and the International Carbon Registry, and its Carbonmark Direct framework lets developers of newer methods, such as Limenet's ocean alkalinity enhancement in Sicily, bring independently verified credits to market. Companies that use its API include Data Offset, Spherity, AlliedOffsets and Ascend Bit for the TrueMoney Wallet. The company is registered in Sheridan, Wyoming (USA) and works with buyers worldwide.

What Carbonmark has delivered
Ascend Bit (TrueMoney Wallet)Fintech
Carbon offsetting built into Thailand's largest payment app
Ascend Bit, part of the Charoen Pokphand Group, wanted to give users of the TrueMoney Wallet a simple, trustworthy way to act on their daily emissions, without the complexity that usually puts consumers off. Using the Carbonmark retirement API, the app now offers packages covering 7, 30 or 90 days of a user's footprint. Each purchase retires the matching credits in real time from tokenized carbon on the Polygon blockchain, and the transaction is stored as a certificate on the user's own address, so every contribution can be traced.
Spherity builds digital product passports, which the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) makes central to tracking a product's environmental impact. By integrating the Carbonmark API into its passport framework, Spherity added automated carbon credit retirement for supply chain emissions. The product footprint stays a gross life-cycle figure, and the retirement certificate is linked to the passport as separate, verifiable information, in line with the battery footprint rules that keep credits out of the declared footprint.
Credit retirement automated from the passport workflow
Certificate linked to the product, footprint left unchanged
Aligned with the ESPR approach to product passports
Live project and price data for carbon market intelligence
AlliedOffsets tracks carbon offsetting and removal projects worldwide and estimates their prices with a machine learning model. It integrated the Carbonmark API to pull project identifier, name, country, methodology, sector, vintage, registry and price for each listing. The larger data sample improves its price estimates and gives companies a clearer basis to compare projects before they buy.
Real-time project and price data fed into a pricing model
Larger sample for more reliable price estimates
Clearer comparison of projects for corporate buyers
Ocean-based carbon removal credits brought to buyers in two weeks
Limenet, an Italian climate tech company, stores CO₂ durably in seawater as calcium bicarbonates at its plant in Augusta, Sicily, operational since September 2023. Registries can take 12 to 18 months to approve a new removal methodology. Through Carbonmark Direct, Limenet's credits reached the market two weeks after independent verification by RINA, with sensor data recorded on the Polygon blockchain so buyers can see how, when and where the CO₂ was stored. The credits can be retired in fractions down to 1 kg of CO₂.
Traceable credits for recycled plastic in the Netherlands
Xworks collects post-consumer plastics and returns them to production as traceable secondary raw material, so that recycled polymers replace virgin plastic. Its digital monitoring platform records material flows in real time, calculations follow ISO 14040/44 and ISO 14067 principles, and credits are only issued after independent verification by Control Union. Through Carbonmark Direct, the first batch of MSR-X credits, each representing 1 tonne of CO₂e avoided through virgin material displacement, was recorded on public blockchain with its supporting evidence.
Avoidance credits verified by Control Union before issuance
Material flows and evidence traceable end to end

“Data Offset is built around the idea that carbon action should be proportional to the activity creating the footprint. A single virtual meeting, social media activity, or AI chat may represent only grams of CO₂, which makes traditional carbon purchasing impractical. Carbonmark’s API and blockchain infrastructure let us automate and transparently verify micro-offsets at that scale, making it possible to bring carbon accounting and climate action directly into every digital workflow.”
Aaron Gregory,Founder, Data Offset
“Through collaboration with Carbonmark, we're providing more than 27 million users with a straightforward and accessible pathway to engage in carbon offsetting. This initiative empowers individuals to actively contribute to climate change mitigation, making sustainability a practical, everyday choice.”
Charukan Kaewjinda,Head of Business, Ascend Bit Company
“With Carbonmark's advanced platform, we can accelerate the trade of carbon credits while ensuring the communities we work with benefit directly from these projects. Together, we're creating a model for how nature-based solutions and innovative finance can drive environmental and social impact.”
