Composil is a Belgian carpet care company, founded in 1992 in Wavre, that keeps office carpet in use for longer. It cleans and maintains carpet tiles, refurbishes used tiles for reuse on site or through its reclaimed-carpet catalogue, and sends worn-out tiles to recycling instead of the incinerator.
About Composil
Composil has cared for commercial carpet since 1992. From its base in Wavre, a team of more than 70 people cleans and maintains about 1 million m² of carpet a month and looks after more than 2.5 million m² of floor space for over 1,200 clients, including BNP Paribas, JLL, AXA, Deloitte and PwC. It holds 18 accreditations from carpet and textile furniture manufacturers and works with brands such as Tarkett, Interface, Forbo and Modulyss. Its circular offer grew out of that maintenance work: Composil now runs an online catalogue of reclaimed carpet, works with ETA Travie for strip-out and sorting and with Tarkett Restart for recycling, and has given a second life to carpet from office towers such as the former BNP Paribas Fortis offices and the North Light Tower in Brussels. Composil works across Europe, from Belgium and Luxembourg to France, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Sweden.

Keeping 17,800 m² of office carpet out of the incinerator
For the renovation of the former BNP Paribas Fortis offices in Brussels, Besix asked Composil to remove and recover all of the building's carpet, nearly 18,000 m², while reusing as much as possible. Composil removed the tiles and took them to its partner Travie in Anderlecht for sorting by condition. 3,200 m² were refurbished with Composil's method and added to its reuse catalogue; the 14,596 m² that were too worn went to Tarkett Restart for recycling, and the client received a CO₂ certificate.
Reinstalling refurbished carpet across an office tower in 5 weeks
During the refurbishment of the North Light Tower in Brussels, CIT Blaton turned to Composil for the more than 22,000 m² of carpet already installed. Composil deep-cleaned 17,000 m² on site, its partner ETA Travie stripped out and sorted the 12 floors, and the cleaned carpet was stored and prepared on site, then reinstalled in the same tower by Composil's installation partner. Areas that could not be covered with reused tiles were completed with new Tarkett carpet chosen by the owner, Whitewood. The whole project took 5 weeks.
Recovering a tower's carpet in 10 days before demolition
De Meuter, a Belgian earthworks and demolition company, was deconstructing the NOR5 tower in Brussels and had only 10 days for all of the carpet to come out. Composil removed roughly 4,000 m² and took it to its partner ETA Travie for sorting. 2,353.5 m² were refurbished and added to Composil's catalogue of restored carpet, and 1,720 m² that could not be reused went to Tarkett Restart, giving De Meuter a certificate of its CO₂ savings.
Fitting out a WeWork space in Paris with reclaimed carpet
WeWork wanted to renovate its Paris spaces responsibly and turned to Fairspace, a sustainable fit-out specialist. After a first project together in 2022, Fairspace chose reclaimed tiles from Composil's catalogue that met WeWork's strict look and performance standards. Composil prepared and delivered the tiles on a tight schedule, its partner Solweig installed them, and Composil ran a final quality check.
Refurbishing a hotel conference room with reclaimed carpet
Crowne Plaza Antwerp, a business hotel with 14 conference rooms, needed new flooring for a conference room on a tight deadline. The hotel picked a reclaimed tile reference from Composil's catalogue, Composil prepared and delivered 1,000 m², the hotel's technical team installed it, and Composil checked the result after installation.
Redesigning offices with reused tiles that count toward EcoVadis
ICOR, a European supplier of rubber and plastic parts for the automotive industry based in Wavre, wanted more modern, dynamic offices. Composil analysed the space, designed a layout of colour zones and rounded islands built from reused tile references in its catalogue, balancing design and acoustics, and coordinated the installation by its partner GMT. According to Composil, the choice of reused carpet and the CO₂ it saved contributed to its EcoVadis Platinum recertification.
