Broptimize is an independent energy consultancy from the Liège region that takes charge of a company's whole energy transition: it negotiates gas and electricity contracts, audits consumption, runs efficiency and renewable energy projects from study to worksite, monitors installations and carries out carbon footprints.
Brothers Sébastien and Michael Menu founded Broptimize in 2016 as a spin-off from the University of Liège, with one idea: energy is a difficult, opaque subject that companies put up with, and they deserve independent support to manage it. Ten years on, Broptimize Energy SA works with thousands of companies of every size and sector, mainly in Wallonia and Brussels, from its offices in Remicourt near Liège. Its teams cover energy market negotiation, audits, refrigeration, production processes, building services, renewables and carbon footprints. Broptimize is approved for Walloon energy audits (including AMUREBA and the energy cheques scheme) and for PEB energy performance certification. In 2024 it opened its capital to its employees.
Eurover asked Broptimize for a global energy audit, which maps how consumption is spread across buildings, operations and mobility and turns it into an action plan. According to its managing director, the company saved 20% on an energy bill of €20,000 the day after the audit, without any investment.
Two very different stores, the AD Delhaize supermarkets in Reyers and Merbraine and the Matériaux 2000 – BigMat building materials store in Beaufays, decided to act on energy. With Broptimize they turned their intentions into tailored projects: optimising their installations, adding photovoltaic panels and working on lighting and insulation. They now follow up and measure their results to keep improving over time, as their managers explain in a three-part video series.
