Building strong ecosystems is crucial in the fight against climate change. However, given differing opinions and methodologies and the increasing number of cases of greenwashing, finding the right partners to do so isn’t always straightforward.

Quest Studio and Tapio easily found common ground on the sole focus of reducing companies’ impact on our people and planet and decided to join forces. This partnership is based on shared values and a commitment to reducing companies’ impact on climate, among other things. This article will explore Quest Studio’s journey to selecting the right carbon management software for its clients.

Quest’s mission and climate journey

Quest is an international Impact Design Studio combining ESG consulting and creative design to drive positive change. Its mission is to transform how purpose-driven organisations measure, maximise, and communicate impact. They do so by applying design thinking to clients that are ready to transform their business through creative, innovative and sustainable strategies.

Quest’s commitment to climate action shows not only in how they advise their clients but also in their efforts to cut down their impact on the climate—and it’s not just about“printing less paper.” After joining the B Corp Climate Collective, Quest extensively researched CO₂ neutrality and Net Zero but came to the following conclusion: obtaining a CO₂-neutral label might have enhanced their marketing efforts, but when it comes to maximising impact, it’s not the best option.

Although Quest consciously chose not to become CO² neutral, they committed to internal carbon reduction. They launched Habitats,  a non-profit organisation dedicated to long-term structural solutions to climate change and biodiversity degradation.

5 criteria for choosing the right carbon management software

Emissions reduction is an important part of the ESG approach, as slowing down climate change is fundamental for the environment. For this reason, Quest chose to find a climate partner for clients looking to reduce their impact. To do so, they stuck to 5 criteria.

1. Approach and methods to carbon reduction

Quest was seeking a partner with a holistic approach to climate change. Tapio’s methodology, which aligns with international protocols while also adapting to the user’s need for better impact understanding, appeared to be the most coherent approach.

2. Research and conclusions on climate neutrality

Given Quest’s well-thought-out journey towards climate neutrality, they were looking for a partner who shared their awareness. Tapio recognises that carbon neutrality can only be achieved on a planetary level, not solely from a company’s perspective. At the same time, while we don’t propose carbon offsets as the ultimate solution to climate change, some of our clients decide to contribute to the transition through carbon contributions by financing high-quality projects (e.g., Soil Capital).

3. Intersectionality with financial and ESG metrics

Quest wanted a partner who comprehends that carbon reports and reduction are just one piece of the puzzle, which comprises other environmental, societal and governmental elements.

4. Accessibility and user experience with data

Managing data effectively requires a user-friendly process. Especially when dealing with large volumes of data, it is crucial that visualisation and analysis of this data are easy. The Tapio software facilitates this through dynamic graphics.

5. Transparency and company culture

Lastly, the human aspect of partnerships cannot be overlooked. Quest and Tapio, both young and dynamic companies, aim to collaborate with human-centred organisations they can trust.

Through these criteria, Quest decided that Tapio was our local choice for clients looking to make an actionable impact. Through this partnership, all Quest Studio clients on their ESG journey will continue an aligned and seamless climate strategy with Tapio and Quest Studio.
