Position Overview

As the COO, you will play a crucial role in shaping Tapio’s operational strategy and driving the company’s growth.

You’ll be leading our operations team.

Working closely with the CEO and the rest of the top managers, you will oversee all aspects of service delivery, collaborating closely with the product team and the sales team to ensure top-notch delivery and execution. This role demands a blend of execution and operational excellence, climate expertise, leadership acumen, and strategic foresight.

KPIs include operational efficiency, team growth, service quality, client satisfaction, market expansion, partners activation, knowledge management and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership
    • Lead and mentor a team of experts, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
    • Build and scale the services team, ensuring they can deliver high-quality carbon consultancy and support to Tapio’s growing client and partner base.
    • Focusing on 3 verticals: clients, partners and product.
  • Operational Strategy
    • Develop and execute Tapio’s operational strategy, aligning with the overall objectives of business growth, international expansion, and sales via partners.
    • Engage with market dynamics and sustainability industry trends to optimize service offerings and expand into new markets.
    • Collaborate with the product and sales teams to prioritize features, enhance offerings, and ensure seamless client onboarding and support.
  • Client & Partner Support
    • Support the sales team in onboarding partners and expanding the client base, particularly with larger enterprises.
    • Establish dedicated support channels for partners, ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • International Expansion
    • Adapt operational processes and frameworks to meet the demands of new markets and larger enterprises.
    • Ensure operational scalability and efficiency as the company grows its global presence.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Drive continuous improvement of consulting processes and innovation, ensuring Tapio remains at the forefront of carbon management and sustainability practices, and enhancing client satisfaction.
    • Oversee the development of educational tools and resources, such as (e)learning modules, user guides, and partner playbooks.
    • Maintain high standards of data quality, ensuring that Tapio’s tools and databases are accurate, up-to-date, and reliable.

Qualifications

What we are looking for

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent in a related field;
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior leadership & operational role;
  • Strong communication skills in French, Dutch and English is required.
  • Proven track record in leading and scaling teams, particularly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
  • Experience in international expansion and operational process optimization;
  • Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong background in climate change and sustainability, with expertise in understanding and reducing emissions, e.g., calculating and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, including carbon reporting (GHG protocol), Life Cycle Assessment (Simapro or other), and SBTs.
